The Olive Press is situated in Riverton, approximately 100 kilometres north of Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia. This area is the centre of the Gilbert Valley, a lush farming area adjacent to the Clare Valley. Situated on the highway to Broken Hill, and adjacent to the Main North Road, means that fruit picked anywhere north of Adelaide can be processed within twenty four hours of picking.  

The Olive Press has a New Look!!

Our existing building had become too small and the time had arrived to expand. We hope our clients, visitors and friends will be more comfortable in the special viewing area and will make use of the tea and coffee facilities while browsing through the books and papers we have collected.

The processing floor is now insulated and isolated from the rest of the operations. All the dusty work of weighing, blowing and cleaning will be done outside the pressing floor. We now have the capacity to store oil waiting for collection or bottling without double-handling and in complete safety.

We have a limited number of 500kg pallet bins available for the use of growers whose crops have increased to the point where small crates are a time-consuming option. This season will see the increasing use of pallet bags for storing olive oil in either 500 or 1000 litre capacity. These bags, like the popular 2 litre bag in a box, are ideal for reducing oxidation from exposure to air and light. The Olive Press will have the facilities to handle these pallet tanks. As usual, quantities from 40kg up to multiple tonnes can be handled.

The design of the Italian made "Oliomio - Two Phase" machine is such that any amount of oil from approximately 25kgs to 350kgs can be processed in one hour. The days of the old mat presses are now behind us, with the new centrifugal machines being comparable in the quantity of oil extracted, superior hygiene, and shorter processing time. A 1.5 tonne per hour Alfa Laval and a 350kg per hour Oliomio, both of Italian Manufacture enable a wide variety of batch sizes from 40kg per batch to several tonnes.

The Olive Press is open by appointment for early and late season work and runs continuously during peak season, from April to July. We offer service seven days a week during the peak season at competitive rates.
